artistMarika Jones is a freelance digital print artist and painter. She was born in Dunedin and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. Marika attended Auckland University where she studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts for two years, finishing her third year at Northtec in Kerikeri, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Visual Arts. Her work has featured in editorial publications, appeared on stationary, and is sold as fine art prints. She is currently living and working in Grey Lynn, Auckland.
Marika spends a lot of time researching images of interest. Historic images in her work are out of copyright or represent only a small percentage of the new image, so all of Marika’s representations are legal. Different images are mashed together and repainted to create a new narrative that is unique to Marika. Where a historic image is used in its totality, it is out of copyright; the image is refreshed and given a new lease of life through her art.
pete & dougie
This is Doug and Pete ‘the boys’ Pete seems to be obsessed with guarding the studio and snacks in between beach walks. While Doug might actually be retired I haven’t seen him do a lot around the place for some time – I have my doubts he’s still on the job – maybe he’s forgotten to put in the paperwork.
